A few words about the company
Our company, Bluejet, began operations in 2007, starting with just 5 employees in a 60m² space. Since then, the company has grown dynamically.
Currently, after 16 years of operation, we employ 100 workers. Our production and warehouse space cover 3100m², with an office area of 800m². We are proud recipients of the “Safe Work Organizer” award from the National Labor Inspectorate. For many years, we have employed people with disabilities, including the hearing impaired. We hold FSC certification and have implemented the Optimus ERP system.
Our ambitious plans for the future include doubling our sales by 2026 and constructing a new 7000m² hall. We plan to increase employment by 40% and fully measure all processes. We aim for process optimization, continuous improvement, and waste elimination in line with Lean Manufacturing principles. We intend to standardize workstations and create a standard for onboarding new employees. Our goal is to reduce the level of reprints from the current 1.5% to 0.5% of sales value by the end of 2024. We also plan to purchase two new printing machines and launch a B2B platform.
What were the main challenges related to packaging production before you started using the Boxmat machine?
The biggest challenge in our industry is lead time. We had very short deadlines for completing entire projects, and the availability of packaging tailored to our products often limited us. Sometimes, the waiting time for packaging matched the entire production cycle, forcing us to pack at the last minute, just before shipping. Unfortunately, our suppliers were not flexible enough to meet these requirements, affecting our ability to meet our customers’ needs.
What prompted you to choose the Boxmat machine? Did you consider other solutions?
We chose Boxmat because we were looking for a comprehensive solution. We needed a machine that required minimal operator involvement during setup and could deliver ready packaging after a single pass of the sheet through the machine.
What changes have you noticed in your packaging production after implementing the Boxmat machine?
First and foremost, we have seen a significant improvement in the flexibility of our production. We can create packaging perfectly tailored to our customers’ needs, allowing us to quickly respond to changing delivery conditions or package contents. We can also easily correct any errors. Having our own boxmaker machine enables us to create prototypes, test, and adjust packaging without interrupting the production cycle, which is a huge advantage for us.
Can you provide specific examples of time or cost savings brought by the Boxmat machine?
In the last 12 months, we have produced 110,000 cardboard boxes on the Boxmat machine, with an average daily load of 460 boxes. Owning our machine has allowed us to better manage production by being independent of external suppliers. Additionally, it reduces warehouse space for ready-made cartons from subcontractors.
How has Boxmat affected the quality and variety of the packaging you offer?
Boxmat has allowed us to increase flexibility for our customers while improving the safety of shipments. We can produce packaging tailored to specific needs, even if the packing process has already begun. For example, we can quickly produce additional reinforcements or adjust the dimensions of the packaging to ensure the package reaches the customer without damage. This has significantly improved the quality of our packaging and customer satisfaction.
Have you encountered any difficulties in operating the machine? What technical support was offered?
Yes, during the initial period of operation, we encountered minor issues such as sensor or connector problems. Technical support was mainly remote but proved effective and helpful in resolving these problems. This allowed us to quickly return to the machine’s full functionality. Throughout the two years of machine usage, an on-site service visit was necessary only once.
What features of the Boxmat machine do you find most important and useful in your daily work?
The most important features of the machine that we value in our daily work are the ability to obtain a complete package in one pass of the sheet and the short setup time. Additionally, Boxmat enables the production of various types of packaging and glue application in one pass, significantly increasing our efficiency and saving time.
Has the implementation of the Boxmat machine impacted your customers’ satisfaction? If so, how?
By launching our own packaging production, we have increased the reliability of meeting deadlines, shortened order fulfillment times, and almost completely eliminated product damage during transport. These changes have allowed us to provide better services and products to our customers, directly translating into their greater satisfaction and trust in our company.
Would you recommend the Boxmat machine to other companies?
Yes, we would recommend the Boxmat machine to other companies. It is an excellent solution for enterprises with a variable assortment, as it provides great flexibility in packaging production.
